State media CCTV reported that the China Coast Guard conducted 134 patrols and deployed about 550,000 vessels and 6,000 aircraft around the disputed Senkaku Islands over the past five years. In 2025 the service patrolled the islands for 357 days. The islands are administered by Japan but claimed by China, and the area saw a recent maritime confrontation between the two countries.

Chinese state media CCTV reported that the China Coast Guard carried out 134 patrols and deployed roughly 550,000 vessels and 6,000 aircraft around the disputed Senkaku Islands over the past five years.

According to the report, the coast guard monitored the islands in the East China Sea — which Beijing calls the Diaoyu Islands — for 357 days in 2025, reflecting near-continuous patrol activity last year.

The Senkaku chain is administered by Japan but is also claimed by China. The territory has long been a flashpoint in bilateral relations and was the scene of a maritime confrontation between Beijing and Tokyo last month, CCTV said.
