Man arrested after reported rape in Bournemouth
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman in her 30s reported she was attacked in a wooded area off Maxwell Road, Bournemouth, on 5 November at about 21:20 GMT.
Dorset Police say the woman had walked to Maxwell Road — which borders Winton Recreation Ground — with a man she did not know after he approached her earlier in Charminster, where she had been meeting someone she knew. The arrested man, a local resident, remains in police custody while detectives continue their enquiries.
Specialist officers are supporting the victim as the Major Crime Investigation Team carries out its investigation.
Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, Dorset Police: "I would like to appeal to anyone who may have information, or who may have captured relevant CCTV footage from the area, to please get in touch."
