Philip Young, 49, has been charged with 56 sexual offences allegedly committed between 2010 and 2023, including 11 counts of rape, extensive voyeurism and possession of indecent images of children. His ex-wife, Joanne Young, 48, has waived her right to anonymity and is named in some of the charges. Five other men have also been charged in relation to offences against the same victim. Young was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Crown Court on Jan. 23.

Philip Young, 49, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Dec. 23 after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Wiltshire Police announced he has been charged with 56 sexual offences following an investigation into alleged offending that took place between 2010 and 2023.

Charges And Allegations
The CPS says the charges against Young — formerly of Swindon and now living in Enfield, north London — include 11 counts of rape, seven counts of sexual assault by penetration, four counts of sexual touching and 11 counts of administering a substance with intent to stupefy or overpower to allow sexual activity. He is also accused of 13 counts of voyeurism tied to video recordings and of voyeurism on at least 200 other occasions.

Authorities additionally allege Young possessed indecent images of children, with 139 images classified as Category A (the most serious categorisation in U.K. law). The CPS says he is accused of holding three prohibited images and 82 extreme images, with one count each relating to images depicting rape, animals, death and gore.

Victim And Court Proceedings
Some alleged offences relate to Young's ex-wife, Joanne Young, 48, who has formally waived her automatic legal right to anonymity and can now be named in court documents. Police say she has been supported by specially trained officers and support services throughout the investigation.
Young made no plea at his magistrates' appearance and was remanded in custody. The CPS confirmed his next hearing at Swindon Crown Court is scheduled for Jan. 23.
Other Defendants
The CPS has also charged five other men in connection with offences against the same victim: Norman Macksoni, 47; Dean Hamilton, 46; Connor Sanderson Doyle, 31; Richard Wilkins, 61; and Mohammed Hassan, 37. Their alleged offences range from sexual touching to rape and possession of extreme images. All five were scheduled to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Dec. 23.
Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith of Wiltshire Police described the inquiry as a "complex and extensive investigation" and confirmed the victim made the decision to waive anonymity after multiple discussions with officers and support services.
