Massapequa Man Indicted After Allegedly Luring, Raping and Robbing 12-Year-Old via Dating App

A New York man has been indicted on multiple felony charges after prosecutors say he lured, raped and robbed a 12-year-old boy he met through an online social networking/dating app.
Marquise Utsey, 34, of Massapequa, was returned an indictment on Dec. 23 by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. He faces charges including rape, sexual abuse, robbery and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with an incident prosecutors say occurred on the evening of Dec. 6.
According to the indictment, Utsey went to the child’s home while the boy was alone, allegedly sexually assaulted him and then demanded money. Fearing for his safety, prosecutors say, the 12-year-old retrieved cash from a family member’s bedroom and gave it to the suspect. The child later reported the incident to his parents, who contacted law enforcement. Utsey was subsequently located and taken into custody.
“The conduct alleged in this indictment reflects utterly reprehensible behavior and a profound betrayal of basic human decency,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney in a statement.
A judge ordered Utsey held on $1.5 million bond while the case is pending. Prosecutors say that if convicted on the charges as filed, Utsey could face up to 25 years in prison. His next scheduled court appearance is Feb. 3, 2026; it was not immediately clear whether he has entered a plea.
