Russian President Vladimir Putin has received a diplomatic invitation to join US President Donald Trump's new "Board of Peace," a panel proposed to oversee Gaza's reconstruction, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. The Kremlin is reviewing the invitation and has asked Washington for more details. The board, which Trump says he will chair, is described as part of a UN‑backed plan to demilitarize and rebuild Gaza and reportedly includes international figures such as Tony Blair, Mark Carney and Marco Rubio, as well as regional leaders.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has received a diplomatic invitation to join US President Donald Trump’s newly announced "Board of Peace," the panel intended to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.

Speaking at a routine press briefing, Peskov said: "President Putin also received through diplomatic channels an invitation to join this Board of Peace." He added that the Kremlin is reviewing the offer and is seeking further details from the United States.

The board — which Trump says will be chaired by him — is presented by the US as part of a United Nations‑backed plan to demilitarize and rebuild Gaza after two years of war between Israel and the Hamas militant group. Trump described the committee as "the Greatest and Most Prestigious Board ever assembled."

Who Has Been Invited

According to announcements by participating governments and officials, invitations have been extended to a range of international figures, including:

  • Tony Blair — Former British Prime Minister
  • Mark Carney — Former Central Bank Governor (Canada/UK)
  • Marco Rubio — U.S. Senator (reported as a U.S. participant)
  • Recep Tayyip Erdoğan — President of Turkey
  • Javier Milei — President of Argentina
  • Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi — President of Egypt

The inclusion of leaders and high‑profile figures from different regions appears aimed at building international legitimacy and oversight for the proposed recovery and demilitarization process in Gaza. Moscow has not yet indicated whether Putin will accept the invitation.

Context: Gaza has endured extensive destruction after two years of conflict between Israel and Hamas. The proposed Board of Peace is part of an effort led by the United States and supported by the UN to coordinate reconstruction, security guarantees and the demilitarization of the territory.

Further details about the board’s mandate, membership rules, timeline and how it will coordinate with the United Nations and regional actors are still forthcoming. The Kremlin said it is "hoping to get more details from the US side" before making any decision.
