Early voting is beginning this week in many states as the Nov. 3, 2026 midterm elections approach. Some states opened early voting as early as September, but most begin early voting windows in October leading up to Election Day.

What To Know About Early Voting

Where it’s offered: According to the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), 47 states plus Washington, D.C., offer some form of early in-person voting. Three states — Alabama, Mississippi and New Hampshire — do not provide early in-person voting.
