WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate Commerce Committee announced it will hold a confirmation hearing on December 3 for Jared Isaacman's nomination to serve as administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The committee issued the scheduling statement on Tuesday, advancing Isaacman's nomination to the next formal step in the Senate confirmation process. The hearing will provide senators an opportunity to question Isaacman about his priorities for the agency, including civil and commercial space activities, budgetary plans, and NASA's strategic direction.
Isaacman, a private-sector entrepreneur and commercial spaceflight participant, was nominated to lead the agency earlier this year. While the hearing starts committee consideration, any final confirmation would require subsequent committee action and a full Senate vote.
