Russian forces struck a monastery in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine on Saturday, killing one member of the clergy and wounding four others, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday.
What Happened
In a post on X, Zelensky said the attack was carried out using an FPV (first-person view) drone — a small, remotely piloted unmanned aerial vehicle operated by a person wearing video goggles. Regional officials reported that the monastery and the nearby village of Chervonyi Mayak, which sits on the Dnipro River separating opposing positions, were hit.
Wider Pattern Of Attacks
Zelensky also reported strikes on critical and civilian infrastructure in the Kharkiv, Sumy and Odesa regions, and said residential buildings were struck in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. He added that other parts of the country had come under attack since Saturday evening.
