KFC Employee Allegedly Stabbed After Dispute Over Gravy in North Las Vegas — Two Arrested

A KFC employee in North Las Vegas was hospitalized after being allegedly stabbed during an argument that reportedly began over gravy, police and local outlets say.
North Las Vegas Police responded to a reported stabbing inside the restaurant on Dec. 27. According to a police report cited by local stations, a witness said 32-year-old Gerald Carter became "upset about his gravy" and felt the staff had disrespected him. The witness said Gerald later returned to the restaurant accompanied by his uncle, 48-year-old James Carter.
Police say surveillance footage from the KFC allegedly shows Gerald stabbing the employee several times while James placed the victim in a choke hold. Officers detained several people at the scene; one man was taken into custody the day of the incident.
Local reporting states that Gerald Carter was found in possession of a folding knife. Per the police report, he told officers he had been involved in a fight but claimed the knife remained in his pocket. Gerald reportedly told police the employee "was calling him names and disrespecting him and that is why they got into a fight." Because the case is active, the North Las Vegas Police Department’s Detective Bureau has limited what it can release publicly.
KSNV and other outlets reported that both Gerald and James Carter were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. During a Dec. 30 court appearance, North Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Jonathan Cooper reportedly set bail at $100,000 for Gerald Carter and $10,000 for James Carter.
KFC did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment; no further medical details have been released. The investigation remains ongoing and the allegations in the police reports have not been proven in court.
