The Food and Drug Administration says Prairie Farms Dairy is voluntarily recalling select gallon-size Fat Free Milk sold at 18 Woodman’s grocery stores in Illinois and Wisconsin after the possible presence of food-grade cleaning agents was detected. The company discovered the issue on Nov. 24, removed affected product from store shelves, and announced the recall on Nov. 25.

The recall is limited to Prairie Farms Gallon Fat Free Milk with a code date of Dec. 8, 2025, UPS code 7273023117 and plant code PLT19-145. The affected product was produced at the Dubuque, Iowa facility during the production window between 17:51 and 21:23 (local time) on the impacted date.

Nearly 320 gallons of the identified product were sold before the issue was discovered. Consumers who purchased this specific product are advised to discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. If you are unsure whether your product is affected, check the code date and plant/UPS codes on the carton before consuming.
