An Israeli airstrike that struck a motorcycle in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood, west of Gaza City, killed one Palestinian and wounded others, leaving a child in critical condition, Palestinian media reported.
The Wafa news agency said the motorcycle was hit on Friday. Palestinian authorities say ongoing Israeli strikes on the besieged enclave have killed at least 1,381 people since a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was announced in October 2025.
Local reports attribute much higher cumulative casualties to the wider campaign that began in October 2023; these figures are reported by Palestinian sources and cited here as such. On the same day, Wafa reported that Israeli forces opened fire in the Nuseirat and Al-Bureij refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip, with shots directed at tents sheltering displaced families and resulting in multiple injuries.
Recent Incidents and Humanitarian Impact
Earlier this week, local authorities said an Israeli "double-tap" airstrike in Gaza City killed a paramedic and a 15-year-old boy; Israeli forces said they were targeting Hamas operatives. Separately, a previously damaged building collapsed in Gaza City on Wednesday, killing at least 21 people, including 12 children, according to Palestinian Civil Defence officials. Recovery teams reported difficulties extracting victims because restrictions limited access to heavy equipment.
Health Ministry Warning: Gaza’s health system is on the verge of "total collapse," the Health Ministry said, citing tight limits on medical aid and fuel entering the enclave.
UNICEF reported last month that, on average, one child is killed each day amid the violence in Gaza. The agency said families are now confined to roughly one-third of the territory, sheltering among destroyed buildings, rubble and uncleared waste.
