An Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in Gaza City's Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood killed at least two people and wounded 13, health officials said on Sunday.
Medical authorities reported that the bodies of the deceased were dismembered by the strike and appealed to the public for information that could help identify them. Footage circulating on social media and verified by Al Jazeera shows the targeted vehicle badly mangled, its roof and doors torn away.
Israeli military response: The Israel Defense Forces said the strike targeted two Hamas fighters. There has been no independent confirmation of the identities of those killed.
Context: Health officials described the attack as part of near-daily Israeli strikes across the besieged and war-ravaged Gaza Strip since a truce between Israel and Hamas took effect last October. Political reaction: During a visit to Ireland, US President Donald Trump defended his administration's handling of Gaza, saying he had "put out the fire" and that "there's very little happening right now in Gaza." Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the truce and of undermining international efforts to secure a longer-term settlement.
