Israeli Fire Kills Three in Gaza, Including Child in al-Mawasi 'Safe Zone'

Medical sources at the Nasser Medical Complex reported that a Palestinian child, identified as Ismail al-Bardawil, was killed after Israeli forces opened fire on civilians in the al-Mawasi 'safe zone' in southern Gaza. He was one of three people reported killed across the Gaza Strip on Monday.

In northern Gaza, a man in Jabalia died of wounds sustained from gunfire. In central Gaza's Deir el-Balah, a woman was also killed after troops opened fire. Nine other Palestinians were wounded by gunfire in the Bureij refugee camp and in Khan Younis; the Anadolu news agency said two women and a child were among the injured.

Al Jazeera Arabic reported that a woman in Jabalia al-Balad was critically wounded when forces opened fire east of the Jabalia refugee camp. Witnesses also described heavy shelling and tank fire in the Shakoush area, north of Rafah.

Witnesses: Shelling and heavy tank fire were reported north of Rafah, and people in several neighbourhoods were struck by gunfire and shrapnel.

Anadolu further reported that three Palestinians, including a woman, were shot when forces fired toward the Hamad City residential area north of Khan Younis, and that two others were injured by shrapnel from an artillery shell in the al-Amal neighbourhood.

Casualty Figures: The Palestinian Ministry of Health has recorded 1,394 deaths and 4,839 injuries since the ceasefire took effect last October. According to Palestinian authorities, at least 73,914 people have been killed since the conflict began on October 7, 2023.

Although a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was signed in October, Israeli troops have not withdrawn and exchanges of fire and attacks on populated areas have continued, according to local reports and witnesses. Humanitarian and medical teams continue to document casualties and damage across the territory, though independent verification of some incidents remains limited due to access restrictions.
