CAIRO/GAZA, Sept 15 — Israeli airstrikes in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday killed at least three Palestinians, medics and aid groups said, including a patient at a health centre in Jabalia.
Medics reported that strikes on a vehicle in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood killed at least two people — one of them a child — and wounded seven others. Witnesses said some casualties came from a second strike that struck near a group of people who had rushed to help the initial victims. A video, which Reuters did not immediately verify, showed a missile exploding close to at least five men.

In a separate incident, the British charity Medical Aid for Palestinians said a patient at a health centre it supports in Jabalia was killed by gunfire from an Israeli military quadcopter drone. There was no immediate comment from Israeli authorities.
The Israeli military said it had struck a militant in the area but provided few details. In separate statements it also said it had killed two men identified as Ahmed Al-Batsh and Rafat Zummar, describing both as Hamas commanders. Hamas sources identified Al-Batsh as a local commander; Hamas did not immediately confirm Zummar's affiliation. Medics said Al-Batsh died in an attack on his vehicle.

Relatives and friends paid their respects to Al-Batsh at Gaza City's Al Shifa Hospital, where his body lay draped in a white shroud and a green Hamas flag with an M16 rifle placed on top. At the funeral, a relative, Khalil Al-Batsh, said:
"Israel thinks it will eliminate the resistance and the spirit of jihad within us. This operation only strengthens our people's determination to continue on this path."
An October 2025 U.S.-backed ceasefire halted large-scale fighting in Gaza, but it has not ended Israeli strikes and there has been little progress toward durable measures that would produce permanent peace. Hamas accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire and undermining efforts to implement a U.S. plan that envisions Israeli withdrawal from the strip and disarmament of Hamas; Israel says Hamas has violated the deal.
According to Gaza health officials, more than 1,300 Palestinians — mostly civilians — have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire took effect. The Israeli military says four Israeli soldiers have been killed. Hamas typically does not disclose details about fatalities among its fighters.
