An AMBER Alert was issued early Jan. 29 after Romeo Ordonez, 12, and his sister Sofia, 9, were reported missing from Santa Clarita about 19 hours earlier. Investigators believe the children are with 45-year-old Cristal Ordonez, who is suspected of abducting them but has not been charged. Authorities say the suspect may be driving a black 2018 Kia Sorento with California plate 8LRF237. The CHP issued the alert for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office and urged anyone with information to call 911.

Southern California authorities issued an AMBER Alert early on Jan. 29 after two children were reported missing from Santa Clarita roughly 19 hours earlier.

Details

Romeo Ordonez, 12, and his sister Sofia Ordonez, 9, were last seen about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Santa Clarita, California. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) says investigators believe the children are with 45-year-old Cristal Ordonez.

Police suspect this is an abduction, but Cristal Ordonez had not been charged as of Thursday morning. Authorities described the vehicle involved as a black 2018 Kia Sorento with California license plate 8LRF237.

Who Issued the Alert

The AMBER Alert was issued by the CHP on behalf of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office. Investigators have not released additional identifying details beyond the children’s names, ages and the vehicle description. The case remains under active investigation.
