Savannah Guthrie Pleads for Prayers as Her 84-Year-Old Mother Is Reported Missing: ‘Bring Her Home’

Savannah Guthrie, co‑host of NBC's Today, made a public plea on Instagram asking for prayers after her 84‑year‑old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing from her home north of Tucson, Arizona. Authorities are treating the residence as a crime scene and investigators are conducting an urgent search.
What Savannah Said
In an Instagram post, Guthrie wrote that her family believes in the power of prayer and asked supporters to join them: 'We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him.' She thanked those already praying and closed with a simple plea: 'Bring her home.'
Isaiah 26:3 — 'He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.'
Investigation Details
Authorities say Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home on the evening of Jan. 31. Family members reported her missing at about noon on Feb. 1 after someone from her church called to say she had not attended services. The Pima County Sheriff's Department said conditions inside the house raised "grave concern." Investigators found Nancy's cellphone, wallet and car at the property, and law enforcement reported signs of forced entry.
Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters investigators collected what is believed to be biological evidence and submitted it to laboratories for testing. Media reports citing law enforcement sources say blood was also found inside the home. The sheriff said the residence is being treated as a crime scene and that Nancy may have been taken from her bed during the night, a circumstance he described as a possible abduction.
Though Nancy Guthrie's physical mobility is limited, Sheriff Nanos emphasized she has no cognitive impairment and remains 'sharp as a tack.' He issued a direct appeal to anyone who may be holding her: 'Just call us. Let her go. The family will tell you, there's no questions asked here.'
