A 2-year-old child was found wandering alone on a Loma Linda street on Jan. 15 and was stayed with by a school bus driver until deputies arrived, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a Jan. 20 news release.
According to the department, detectives traced the child’s residence and conducted a welfare check. Investigators say they discovered "multiple firearms and narcotics" within reach of the toddler and several older siblings.
The child’s parents were identified as 36-year-old Monae Myers and 34-year-old Dantion Green McGuire. Both were arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino. Officials did not immediately disclose where the children were placed following the welfare check.
Myers and McGuire face multiple felony counts, including child abuse, possession of a controlled substance while armed, and animal cruelty. The sheriff’s department said the investigation is continuing.
