Pregnant Woman and Unborn Child Killed After Suspected DUI Crash Near SR-91 — Suspect Arrested

The Anaheim Police Department confirmed that a late-night collision on Jan. 25 left a 24-year-old pregnant woman dead along with her unborn child. The crash occurred at about 12:10 a.m. at the intersection of North Anaheim Boulevard and the SR-91 freeway frontage road.
What Happened
According to investigators, a light-colored Toyota four-door sedan traveling southbound entered the intersection and was struck by a dark-colored Lexus traveling eastbound on the SR-91 frontage road. Police say the Lexus failed to stop for a red traffic signal. The Toyota's passenger, identified as Bianca Esquivel, 24, became trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene; authorities say her unborn child also did not survive despite life-saving efforts.
Suspect And Charges
Officers arrested Daniel Ramos, 24, the driver of the Lexus, at the scene after he allegedly displayed "objective signs and symptoms of impairment." Ramos was booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility on felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges. Police said additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues, given that the passenger was pregnant.
Family And Community Response
Family members and local outlets identified the victim as Bianca Esquivel. Her boyfriend, named by local reporters as Oscar, said the couple had just left an In-N-Out after she satisfied pregnancy cravings. The pair were expecting their second child and had been preparing for the baby; Bianca also leaves behind a 4-year-old son.
"We were laughing on the way back... It was so fast. She screamed, 'Oh my god,'" Oscar recalled to reporters.
The family launched a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs and medical expenses for the boyfriend. On the fundraiser page they described Bianca as "a devoted mother, a beloved sister and daughter, and a caring girlfriend" who planned to return to school to pursue a degree in accounting.
