21-Year-Old Isabella Comas Missing After Car Found Abandoned With Reported Blood Stains; Boyfriend Arrested

Arizona authorities are asking for the public's help after 21-year-old Isabella Comas was reported missing following her disappearance on Jan. 11. Her red Hyundai Sonata was recovered days later in Phoenix with reported blood stains and interior damage, and investigators have arrested her boyfriend in connection with the vehicle.
What Happened
According to the Avondale Police Department (APD), Comas was last seen at about 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, leaving a friend's house near 11120 W. Van Buren Street in Avondale. She departed in a red Hyundai Sonata (license plate 2EA6LW). Days after her disappearance, the vehicle was found abandoned near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix.
Evidence and Investigation
Court documents and local reporting indicate officers found "blood stains and damage" inside the recovered vehicle. Investigators also say Comas' phone was located at a Phoenix recycling center on Jan. 12; the phone was reportedly handed to Comas' family by Thomas Rodriguez, 39. Authorities have not publicly detailed how Rodriguez obtained the phone.
Arrest and Charges
Thomas Rodriguez was arrested in connection with the recovery of the vehicle. He has pleaded not guilty to felony counts that include criminal damage, auto theft and a probation violation. A prosecutor at a Jan. 29 hearing said Rodriguez "already went to great lengths to conceal evidence, linking him to the stolen vehicle," according to local reporting.
Rodriguez is being held at the Maricopa County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond. Court records and reporting note he has multiple prior felony convictions, including convictions related to murder, stalking and aggravated assault; in 2003 he served time for second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery.
Private investigator Chris Castorena, assisting Comas' family, said: "I'm just that extra support in telling them the procedures, what's going on, and just giving them step-by-step directions. Isabella is somewhere and we just got to find her."
How You Can Help
The APD says surrounding law enforcement agencies, area hospitals, taxi companies and emergency services have been notified with negative results so far. Anyone with information about Isabella Comas' whereabouts or relevant tips is asked to contact the Avondale Police Department at 623-333-7000.
At the time of reporting, the Avondale Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety had not immediately responded to requests for additional comment.
