Three tourists were wounded and a 19-year-old man was killed after the man ran into the foyer of Dooky Chase's Restaurant while fleeing gunfire in New Orleans shortly after 8 p.m. Friday. Two of the wounded are friends from Los Angeles—one was shot about five times and has undergone multiple surgeries; the other is in stable condition after surgery. The third visitor, from Florida, was treated and released. Police believe a single shooter remains at large and say the fatality appears to have been the intended target as investigators continue to probe a possible retaliatory motive.
Three Tourists Wounded, 19-Year-Old Killed After Gunfire Reaches Dooky Chase's Foyer in New Orleans

Three visitors to New Orleans were injured and a 19-year-old man was killed after the man ran into the foyer of the historic Dooky Chase's Restaurant while attempting to flee gunfire, authorities said Monday.
The shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. on Friday, New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said. Officers responded after witnesses reported a man being chased and then fired upon on a nearby street.
The fleeing man entered the restaurant's foyer to escape the barrage. The dining room was busy at the time, and stray rounds struck three people who were waiting for tables, Kirkpatrick said.
All three victims were women visiting the city: two friends from Los Angeles and a third visitor from Florida. One Los Angeles tourist was struck about five times and has undergone several surgeries; her companion also had surgery and was reported in stable condition. The guest from Florida was treated at a hospital and subsequently released.
Police told reporters they believe there was a single shooter who remains at large, although investigators have not ruled out the involvement of others. Kirkpatrick said the person who was fatally shot appears to have been the intended target and that the attack "appears to be a retaliatory type of shooting," but the motive remains under investigation.
The 19-year-old who died was identified by WVUE-TV as Kareem Harris.
