A similar suspected grenade was found in the county last September.
Bomb Squad Called After New Homeowners Find Live Ammunition and Suspected Grenades in Houston

New homeowners in Houston received a dangerous surprise when they discovered live ammunition and suspected explosive devices inside their recently purchased house on Jan. 10, officials said.
The Harris County Constable Precinct 3 Office reported that dispatchers received a call that day from residents of a home in the 7400 block of John Ralston Road after they found ammunition and other firearm-related items, which were described as including suspected grenades and improvised explosive devices. Sheriff’s deputies responded and notified the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad.
After a careful on-scene investigation, the Bomb Squad determined the devices were live and removed them from the property, the constable’s office said in a news release obtained by PEOPLE. No injuries were reported.
Officials praised the homeowners for exercising extreme caution by not handling the items and immediately contacting authorities. “Thank you to our Deputies and the Harris County Bomb Squad for their quick response and expertise. Teamwork keeps our community safe,” the office added.
It remains unclear how the ammunition and explosive devices ended up in the house. The Harris County Constable Precinct 3 Office did not immediately provide additional details when asked, and the investigation is ongoing.
This incident follows a similar discovery in September, when people cleaning a residence near Tomball Parkway in northwest Harris County found a suspected hand grenade; bomb technicians removed that device and planned to dispose of it at a controlled range.
Safety Note: If you find suspicious weapons or explosive devices, do not touch them. Leave the area immediately and call local law enforcement.
