Sources told ABC News that the Federal Bureau of Investigation took a man into custody on Thursday in connection with the placement of pipe bombs outside the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee offices on the night before the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Nine months ago the FBI released security footage that showed an individual carrying a bag down an alley that runs between the RNC headquarters and the Capitol Hill Club. At the time, the bureau said the devices were planted sometime "between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m." on Jan. 5.

Timeline: Devices placed the evening of Jan. 5; arrest occurred Thursday morning after a multiyear inquiry and review of security footage.
