Trump Transition Publishes 45-Person Donor List a Year After Pledge

The Trump transition released a 45-person donor list one year after promising disclosure, identifying Linda McMahon and Howard Lutnick as leading contributors. The team reported raising more than $14 million and spending nearly the same but did not provide spending details or per-donor amounts. Because the transition declined public funding, private donations were not subject to federal contribution limits or mandatory disclosure timelines.

The Trump presidential transition has released a 45-person list of private donors, fulfilling a promise made a year earlier. The roster names transition co-chairs Linda McMahon and Howard Lutnick among its largest contributors and includes prominent Republican megadonors and officials linked to the administration.

What was disclosed

The transition reported raising more than $14 million and spending nearly the same amount but did not provide a breakdown of how funds were used or the size of individual donations. Because the team declined public transition funds, private contributions were not subject to the usual federal limits or mandatory disclosure timelines that apply when public funds are accepted.

The disclosed roster includes figures tied to the administration and to 2024 campaign fundraising. Notable names on the list include Steve Witkoff, Paul Singer, Jeff Yass and Robert Bigelow. At least five donors on the transition list—Bigelow, Lutnick, McMahon, Singer and Robert Bishop—also appear among major backers of the 2024 campaign.

Statement from a former transition official: "President Trump greatly appreciates his supporters and donors; however, unlike politicians of the past, he is not bought by anyone and does what’s in the best interest of the country. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false. This administration remains laser-focused on delivering real results for the American people — putting Americans first, creating jobs, securing our borders, and strengthening our economy."

Reports indicate the person listed as Stanley Woodward serves as an associate attorney general at the Justice Department, and that Dominick Gerace serves as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. Requests for comment were made to those named.

Context

By comparison, Trump’s first presidential transition raised about $6.5 million and spent roughly $4.7 million. Transition officials previously defended the choice to use private funds as a taxpayer cost-saving measure; they also pledged that donor names would be disclosed and that foreign donations would not be accepted.
