22-Year-Old Singer DELAROSA Killed in Alleged Ambush-Style Shooting in Northridge

A 22-year-old singer known as DELAROSA was shot and killed early Saturday in what Los Angeles police describe as an ambush-style attack in the Northridge neighborhood.

Authorities say officers responded around 1:25 a.m. to reports of gunfire near Bryant Street east of Tampa Avenue. Witnesses told investigators that two male suspects approached a parked vehicle before firing multiple rounds into the car. Maria De La Rosa, who performed as DELAROSA, was among the occupants and later died at a local hospital. Two other people inside the vehicle were reported in critical condition.

The Los Angeles Police Department has not announced any arrests and has not released a motive. Detectives are continuing the homicide investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact Operations Valley Bureau Homicide, Detective Simonyan or Detective Lopez at (818) 374-9550. Anonymous tips may be submitted to the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).

De La Rosa released music under the stage name DELAROSA and had teased new material on Instagram on Oct. 30. Her caption, in Spanish, read: "Ocupada cocinando en el Stu đŸŽ¶đŸ‘©đŸ»â€đŸł no me llames đŸȘ„đŸȘžđŸ© Ya es tiempo
GAME TIME BABY," which translates to "Busy cookin' in the studio. Don't call me. It's about that time." Her most recent single, "No Me Llames," was released in August.

Since news of the shooting, tributes and condolences have appeared across social media. A woman identified as Deyanira De La Rosa, who appears to be a relative, reshared messages on the late singer's Instagram Stories. One remembrance came from Devin Christiansen, who wrote that he met De La Rosa years ago at a gym and credited her with helping him early in his career.

"I couldn't be thankful enough to have met her at a time when I was at my lowest," Christiansen wrote, adding that he was sorry for the family's loss and called De La Rosa an "angel."

Investigators urge witnesses or anyone with video or information about the shooting to contact the Operations Valley Bureau Homicide unit at (818) 374-9550, or to share anonymous tips with L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
