Kidnapping at McDonald’s Leads to Multi‑City Pursuit and Five Arrests

Five people were taken into custody after a reported kidnapping at a McDonald’s in Davie, Florida, triggered a multi‑jurisdiction police pursuit that ended in Pompano Beach, authorities said.

What happened

The Davie Police Department says the incident began just before 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, when a group of suspects approached a man inside the restaurant, seized his cellphone and ordered him into their vehicle if he wanted the phone returned.

The vehicle drove to Fort Lauderdale’s 700 block of Northwest 9th Avenue, where the suspects allegedly forced the man from the car and struck him. The victim managed to flee on foot, stopped a passerby and called 911 to report that he had been kidnapped, a DPD spokesperson told local outlets.

Police response and pursuit

Officers in neighboring jurisdictions were alerted. Fort Lauderdale police used GPS data from the victim’s phone to locate the suspects’ white SUV. Davie and Fort Lauderdale police, assisted by Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies, pursued the vehicle into Pompano Beach, where video shows the SUV colliding with a pole. The occupants then fled on foot.

Local footage captured heavily armed officers searching an apartment building across from the crash site as they attempted to locate the fleeing suspects.

Arrests and charges

Three adults were arrested at the scene: 30‑year‑old Tracey Ross, 18‑year‑old Lamar Perry and 18‑year‑old Timothy Brown. Two minors were also taken into custody and transported to the county juvenile assessment center.

According to CBS Miami, Ross faces charges including kidnapping, inflicting bodily harm or terrorizing a victim, fleeing at high speed and resisting an officer. Perry was charged with kidnapping; inflicting bodily harm or terrorizing a victim; grand theft of a motor vehicle; resisting an officer; possession of a firearm by a minor; and burglary. Brown was charged with kidnapping and inflicting bodily harm or terrorizing a victim; reports state his precise role remains unclear.

“I’ve never seen my son get in trouble or do anything like this,” Brown’s mother told reporters. “I don’t know who he was with and what happened. So, I’m still in shock.”

The victim’s name has not been released while the investigation continues.

Ongoing investigation

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the alleged kidnapping and the identities and roles of all involved. Additional charges are possible as the probe proceeds.
