Who Escaped
Stevenson Charles, 24: Described by the U.S. Marshals as "extremely dangerous." Charles was reportedly serving a life sentence and faced multiple violent charges, including murder and armed robbery. Local reporting and federal officials say he is also accused of child rape (sodomy on a person under 10), kidnapping, carjacking, aggravated assault, weapons violations and probation violations. He is listed at about 5 feet 7 inches and roughly 200 pounds and is known to have ties to the Atlanta and Miami areas.
Yusuf Minor, 31: Charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to authorities.
Naod Yohannes, 25: Reportedly charged with simple assault, arson and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.
"We take this breach very seriously and are working diligently to ensure these individuals are safely returned to custody as quickly as possible," Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said in a statement.
Authorities' Response and Public Warning
Officials have urged residents to exercise extreme caution. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media that the fugitives may be armed and are considered dangerous. The U.S. Marshals are assisting the local search efforts.
