Tomi Lahren Scoffs at Rep. Jack Auchincloss' "Wonderful Sidestep" After He Dodges Question on Chuck Schumer

Fox host Tomi Lahren mocked Rep. Jack Auchincloss for dodging whether Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer should remain in leadership, calling his reply a "wonderful sidestep."

Auchincloss declined to join 17 House Democrats calling for Schumer's ouster, instead focusing on defeating Donald Trump and reclaiming the House in 2026 to remove Speaker Mike Johnson.

The exchange—airing on The Big Weekend Show—underscores intraparty tensions after the recent government-reopening agreement.

Tomi Lahren Mocks Congressman for Dodging Question on Schumer's Leadership

Fox News host Tomi Lahren mocked Rep. Jack Auchincloss (D-MA) for what she called a "wonderful sidestep" after he declined to say whether Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has been an effective leader for Democrats or whether he should remain in party leadership.

Lahren pressed Auchincloss when he appeared on The Big Weekend Show on Saturday evening about the party's direction following the recent agreement to reopen the government. She asked directly: "Do you think Sen. Schumer has been an effective leader and do you agree with some of those colleagues we just heard from that it's time for that change?"

The question referred to 17 House Democrats who have publicly called for Schumer to step down after the deal. The program aired a montage of liberal lawmakers urging change, including Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), who said it was "time" for Schumer to go as he is "out of touch," and Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), who urged Democrats to "stop protecting this establishment status quo." Fox also replayed a clip of Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) saying, "no one really knows" who is currently running the Democratic Party.

"I don't think Americans feel like Congress is working, period, right now. The appropriations process is dysfunctional, Congress has ceded way too much of its authority to the president on a host of issues — from tariffs to law enforcement to military use — and it's critical that we disrupt the status quo," Auchincloss said on air. "But only Democrats can do that by taking back the House in 2026. That's the Congressional leader I'm focused on getting rid of, Speaker Mike Johnson, because he's allowed Congress to be sidelined at a time when Americans want Congress laser-focused on lowering costs."

Rather than weigh in on calls for Schumer to step aside, Auchincloss redirected to his priorities: defeating former President Donald Trump and reclaiming the House in 2026 to replace House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). Lahren laughed and quipped, "that was a wonderful sidestep, congressman!" which drew a smile from Auchincloss before the show moved on to a question from Dr. Marc Siegel.

This exchange highlights growing intraparty tensions within the Democratic caucus as lawmakers debate leadership and accountability after the government-reopening deal. Video of the back-and-forth was shown on the program and aired on Fox News.
