A young couple were violently attacked in their Smith's Wood, Solihull home and forced to hand over a substantial amount of cryptocurrency after masked intruders broke in, West Midlands Police said.
The incident took place at about 17:20 GMT on Saturday 13 December 2025 as the couple returned to their house. Detectives say three men alighted from a parked car and forced their way inside as the pair opened the front door.
What Happened
Police believe the robbery was a planned and targeted attack. Investigators say a fourth person, who did not enter the property, relayed instructions to the offenders via a video call. The assailants left with a large sum of cryptocurrency and several high-value watches, escaping in a vehicle believed to be a black BMW X3.
West Midlands Police reported the male victim sustained "significant injuries" during the assault. His wife, who was pregnant at the time, was threatened with a knife. All suspects are thought to be in their twenties; one was described as "a black man with a small diagonal scar beneath his left eyebrow." Face coverings and hoods have made precise identification difficult.
Appeal And Reward
Crimestoppers, an independent charity, is offering up to £10,000 for exclusive information that leads to an arrest and conviction. Alan Edwards, West Midlands regional manager for Crimestoppers, urged anyone with information to come forward, saying:
"This was a young family, at home, weeks away from welcoming a new baby. What was done to them is hard to take in, and the effects are still being felt every single day."
Mr Edwards asked for information from people who might have been told about the attack afterwards, anyone who noticed a friend or relative suddenly with unexplained money, or witnesses who saw a black BMW X3 in the area that evening. Tips can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously; the charity does not ask for names or require informants to give a statement or attend court.
West Midlands Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact them or pass details to Crimestoppers.
