Malawi police are investigating the abduction of a British national, Nusrat Osman, who was seized on Friday in Blantyre, the country's commercial hub.

According to a police statement, Osman, 47, was taken at about 12:30 local time by four men travelling in a grey Nissan Dualis. Authorities say the motive is not yet known, and the kidnappers have not contacted the victim's family or officials.

Osman is from Leicester and is reported to work for a local auditing firm in Blantyre. She is a mother of two young children. A Malawian news outlet quoted her husband as saying he is distraught:
"I don't know where she is or how she is. My wife is an auditor and I have no issues with anyone."
