Justice Department records released from the Jeffrey Epstein archive include allegations—originating from Epstein—that Bill Gates contracted an STD after encounters with “Russian girls” and sought antibiotics to give to his then-wife. The documents, part of a multi‑million‑page release, also contain photos of Epstein with Gates and correspondence involving the Duke of York, Lord Mandelson and Ghislaine Maxwell. Gates’ office has strongly denied the claims, and US officials caution the trove contains a mix of materials, including commercial pornography and unverified notes.

Newly released Justice Department records contain allegations by Jeffrey Epstein that Bill Gates contracted a sexually transmitted disease after encounters with what Epstein described as “Russian girls,” and that Gates sought antibiotics to give surreptitiously to his then-wife, Melinda Gates. The documents form part of a large tranche of material published by the US government and include photographs, emails and handwritten notes attributed to Epstein.

What the Files Say

The material—part of roughly three million pages disclosed under legal obligations—contains a July 18, 2013 memo Epstein wrote to himself listing several accusations about Gates. One passage reads in part:

“To add insult to the injury you them [sic] implore me to please delete the emails regarding your std, your request that I provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give to Melinda and the description of your penis.”
Epstein also sent himself an email on the same night purporting to announce a resignation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Epstein never worked for the foundation, and investigators say that note appears to be written in another person’s voice.

Photos and Other Connections

The released files reportedly include new photographs of Epstein with Gates. Other messages in the trove reference Epstein’s interactions with senior British figures: emails describe Epstein offering the then Duke of York a dinner with a 26-year-old Russian woman and show exchanges with Lord Peter Mandelson. Additional correspondence between the Duke and Ghislaine Maxwell—now serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking—was also published.

Official Responses and Context

A spokesman for Mr. Gates called the allegations “absolutely absurd and completely false,” adding that the documents reflect Epstein’s frustration at not having an ongoing relationship with Gates and the lengths he would allegedly go to “entrap and defame.”

Deputy US Attorney General Todd Blanche said the released material includes more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, though not all were produced by Epstein or his associates and the archive contains a large amount of commercial pornography. The files were released in stages after legal demands on the Trump administration to publish records it held on Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 and had been convicted in 2009 for soliciting prostitution.

Potential Fallout

The allegations have renewed public scrutiny of relationships between Epstein and prominent public figures, and prompted commentary about whether honors or associations might be reviewed. Whitehall sources declined to say whether the government would seek to revoke Mr. Gates’s honorary knighthood.

What Is Not Established

It is important to note these are allegations contained in Epstein’s notes and emails; they have not been substantiated in court. Mr. Gates has denied the claims. The documents should be interpreted in context: many items were created by Epstein and reflect his perspective and intentions.

Key background: Jeffrey Epstein died in custody in 2019. His wide network of contacts and the materials seized from him have been the subject of prolonged legal and public scrutiny.
