Hennepin County Rules Renee Good's Death a Homicide From 'Multiple Gunshot Wounds'

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has officially classified the death of Renee Good as a homicide, listing the cause as "multiple gunshot wounds." Good was shot on Jan. 7 in Minneapolis by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathan Ross while she was driving a Honda Pilot; her vehicle later veered and crashed after she was struck.
According to a Public Data Form released by the medical examiner's office, the manner of death is homicide and the cause is recorded specifically as "multiple gunshot wounds." First responders found Good unresponsive in her car at about 9:42 a.m., with visible blood on her face and torso.
The Minneapolis fire and police incident report obtained by PEOPLE documents the injuries: two apparent gunshot wounds to the right side of her chest, one apparent gunshot wound to her left forearm, and a possible gunshot injury to the left side of her head described as having "protruding tissue." The report also notes blood coming from her left ear.
Antonio Romanucci, attorney for Good's family, said: "We are aware of the release of basic information by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner acknowledging the death of Renee Good as a Homicide. We are still waiting for their full report and hope that they communicate with Renee’s family and share their report before releasing any further information to the public."
The medical examiner's office has not yet released the full autopsy report. The shooting remains under intense scrutiny: federal officials say Good attempted to weaponize her vehicle, while local authorities and Good's family have strongly disputed that account. The incident is the subject of ongoing reviews by multiple agencies.
Good was a mother of three who had recently moved to Minneapolis with her partner, Becca. Antonio Romanucci, who represents the family, previously helped secure a $27 million settlement for the family of George Floyd.
Officials have released limited information as the investigation continues; the public and Good’s family are awaiting the complete autopsy findings and additional investigative reports.
