Video shows an unidentified man chased into a Minneapolis parking garage during anti‑ICE protests and allegedly struck in the head with a flagpole, pepper‑sprayed and pursued as he tried to leave. Earlier the same day, footage circulated of pardoned Jan. 6 participant Jake Lang being dragged and bleeding at a separate demonstration. Authorities said the Minnesota National Guard was mobilized to support local agencies but had not been deployed to city streets, and police urged anyone assaulted to file reports. Tensions followed a recent fatal shooting during an ICE operation.

Video from Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis shows an unidentified man being chased into a parking garage during protests and allegedly struck in the head with a flagpole by a group of apparent anti‑ICE demonstrators. Witnesses say the crowd continued to follow him as he walked toward his car, pepper‑sprayed him and handled a bleeding head wound before he got into a vehicle and drove away.

At one point the injured man can be heard telling the crowd, "I'm trying to be done, but you guys keep harassing me," while his jacket appeared soaked with blood. A protester using a megaphone can be heard saying the man "needs medical help" and making disparaging remarks. Others shouted profanities and followed him into the garage. After he left, people in the crowd reportedly slammed car doors and struck the vehicle with flagpoles.

Jake Lang, an activist and Republican U.S. Senate candidate for Florida, clashes with anti-ICE agitators during a demonstration, Saturday, in Minneapolis.

Separate Clash Involving Jake Lang

Earlier the same day, video circulated showing Jake Lang—identified by some reports as a pardoned participant in the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot—being dragged away from a separate demonstration tied to an Americans Against Islamification (AAI) "Crusader March". Footage shows Lang stumbling and bleeding from the back of his head as a crowd surrounds him. According to posts attributed to Lang, he said he was stabbed but that a plate carrier he wore prevented a worse injury; those claims have not been independently verified.

Police say they are aware of social media reports regarding the Lang incident but that no official police report had been filed at the time. Authorities urged anyone who experiences assaultive behavior to report the incident and provide details such as date, time, location and a description of suspects.

Law Enforcement Response and Context

Protests also erupted outside the Whipple Federal Building, where federal agents tried to hold demonstrators back from the entrance. Video shows confrontations and shouting as law enforcement attempted to maintain a line. Hennepin County Sheriff's Office patrol cars were later seen blocking the road in front of the building as night fell.

Tensions in Minneapolis were already high following the recent fatal shooting of 37‑year‑old Renee Nicole Good during an ICE operation; officials said she was allegedly blocking the operation and driving toward an agent. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety announced that the state's National Guard had been mobilized and staged to support local law enforcement and emergency management agencies, though Guardsmen had not been deployed to city streets at the time.

In a social media post, the White House criticized local policies related to immigration and said ICE is working to remove certain criminal noncitizens; that post reflects political commentary and has not been independently verified in this report.
