Beloved Daycare Manager, 33, Dies After Emergency C-Section Complications; Family and Community Rally to Help

Cassidy Arnold, 33, died on Nov. 26 after experiencing complications following an emergency C-section, her family has said. She leaves behind her husband, Trent Arnold, and their two young sons: newborn Sam and four-year-old Charlie.

On a GoFundMe page created to support the family, Cassidy’s sister-in-law, Aimie Pieper, described the immediate challenges facing Trent as he adjusts to life as a single parent while managing mounting medical bills and funeral expenses. The campaign had raised more than $80,000 as of Dec. 3.

“Trent is now trying to learn how to be a single dad to his newborn baby, Sam, and his four-year-old, Charlie,”

Cassidy’s father, Jason Simpson, said the family is doing their best to stay strong for the children, especially their eldest, who will turn five later this month. “Everybody loved her,” Simpson said, describing Cassidy’s warm, caring relationship with the kids she looked after.

Her Work and Advocacy

Cassidy managed the daycare and children’s summer programs at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, California. She took pride in supporting both guests’ children and the children of resort employees, and she advocated for more affordable, year-round childcare options for resort staff so working parents would have better access to care.

A spokesperson for Vail Resorts praised Cassidy’s "calm energy, her kindness and her unwavering care," and said she was a valued member of the resort community.

Community Response

The local community has rallied around Cassidy’s family with donations and offers of help, including breast milk donations for newborn Sam. Family members say they are grateful for the support as they navigate the immediate emotional and financial challenges of this sudden loss.

While the family continues to grieve, friends and neighbors have organized support through the GoFundMe page and local networks to help cover medical and funeral costs and to provide practical assistance to Trent and the boys.
