Tiffin Shooting: 42-Year-Old Man Kills Two Children and Another Adult, Then Himself

A domestic dispute in Tiffin, Ohio, ended in a deadly shooting on the evening of Nov. 19, authorities say. Police responding to reports of “shots fired and screaming” on the 100 block of Huss Street just before 6:30 p.m. found four people with gunshot wounds and an adult woman who was physically uninjured but visibly traumatized.

Police identified the shooter as 42-year-old Ryan Eagon. Investigators say Eagon opened fire while the woman was removing belongings from the home amid ongoing domestic issues. A man who had gone to help her, 29-year-old Dustin Willey, was among those shot.

According to the police release, the woman and Willey were inside the house gathering items while the woman's oldest son and her 7-month-old infant were outside near a vehicle. When they heard the older child cry, they went to check and saw Eagon in the driveway. Officers say Eagon chased Willey and fired multiple shots toward him, then shot both children before firing additional rounds at Willey and fatally shooting himself.

Emergency responders transported Willey to Tiffin Mercy Hospital, where he later died. The woman’s 7-year-old son, identified as Wrenn, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The 7-month-old infant and Eagon were pronounced dead at the scene. Local reporting indicates Eagon was the infant’s father; Willey was the father of the 7-year-old.

The mother told police she carried her injured children into the home before officers arrived. The Tiffin Police Department said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Seneca County Coroner's Office are assisting with the active investigation; autopsies were pending as of Nov. 21.

“He would do anything for that boy,” said Kelly Gallagher, Willey’s former boss, describing Willey as a devoted, hands-on father.

Authorities have not released a motive beyond references to ongoing domestic problems. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Tiffin Police Department.
