Arrest in Red Fort Car Bombing

Indian authorities say they have arrested a man whose vehicle was used in a Nov. 10 car bombing near the historic Red Fort in New Delhi that killed 10 people and injured 32.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced on Sunday that agents arrested Amir Rashid Ali during a large-scale operation in Delhi. The agency alleges Ali conspired with the suspected suicide attacker, identified as Umar Un Nabi, in the incident near the tourist-heavy, crowded Red Fort.

Investigators say the blast occurred at about 7 p.m. local time and involved a Hyundai i20. Forensic analysis identified Nabi, a resident of Pulwama in Kashmir, as the deceased driver of the vehicle. Nabi was reported to be an assistant professor of general medicine at Al Falah University.

Two days after the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet described the incident as "a heinous terrorist incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces."

The NIA said a vehicle belonging to Nabi has been seized and is being examined for evidence. So far, 73 people — including some of those injured in the explosion — have been questioned. The investigation is active and spans multiple Indian states as agencies pursue leads.

Context: Authorities initially hesitated to classify the incident but later described it as terror-related. The probe is ongoing, and officials say they will continue forensic work and cross-state coordination to gather evidence and identify any further suspects or conspirators.

Note: All charges and allegations are those reported by investigators; suspects are entitled to legal process.
