MTG Warns Trump Is Straying From MAGA, Urges 'America First' Domestic Push

Marjorie Taylor Greene accused Donald Trump of drifting from core MAGA priorities, listing foreign and domestic policy moves she says contradict an "America First" agenda. She declined to explicitly say he’d abandoned MAGA but criticized a recent foreign summit, visa and higher-education policies, and rising living and health costs. Greene urged fewer presidential trips abroad and a renewed White House focus on the domestic agenda voters backed.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Trump Is Losing the MAGA Compass

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene publicly cataloged multiple policy moves she says show former President Donald Trump is no longer fully aligned with the MAGA agenda, deepening a rift that could fracture their shared base.

Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, Greene declined to flatly say whether Trump still “represents the MAGA movement,” but she offered a string of criticisms and policy examples she believes run counter to the movement’s core promises.

“I think that the American people deserve to be put first. That’s what ‘Make America Great Again’ means to me, and I think that President Trump can do that if he refocuses his effort,” Greene said. She added that she has been pressing GOP leaders to deliver the agenda she says voters backed.

Greene singled out what she described as troubling foreign policy signals, referencing a recent summit Trump held with a Syrian figure she tied to extremist groups. She said the meeting was "very hurtful" to U.S. servicemembers who fought in the region and continue to live with injuries and PTSD.

She also highlighted domestic policy grievances: rising cost of living, spiraling health-insurance costs, and immigration and education policies she says undermine American workers and students. “Promoting H‑1B visas to replace American jobs, bringing in 600,000 Chinese students to replace American students’ opportunities in American colleges and universities — those are not America-first positions,” Greene said.

When pressed by host Dana Bash on whether Trump still embodies MAGA, Greene would not say “no,” but emphasized she wants him to succeed — provided he refocuses on the domestic priorities she champions.

“I would love to see Air Force One be parked and stay home,” Greene said, calling for fewer presidential trips abroad and “nothing but a constant focus in the White House on a domestic agenda that helps the American people once and for all.”

The congresswoman also noted her continued calls for the release of the Epstein files and reiterated her broader demand that the party deliver the promises voters were elected to enact.

Bottom line: Greene’s comments underscore an increasingly public policy split within the MAGA coalition — one focused on foreign engagements and perceived departures from strict “America First” policies versus a more expansive or pragmatic approach to international affairs.
