Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls Trump’s ‘Locked and Loaded’ Iran Warning a Betrayal of 2024 Voters

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene sharply criticized President Trump after he posted that the U.S. was "locked and loaded" to intervene if Iran violently suppresses protesters, saying the stance betrayed 2024 voters. Greene linked the president’s threat to calls by Israeli entrepreneur Shlomo Kramer for social-media regulation and argued both represented overreach. Rep. Thomas Massie also condemned the post, stressing domestic priorities and that military strikes require Congressional authorization. Both lawmakers are prominent GOP opponents of foreign intervention.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) publicly rebuked President Donald Trump on Friday after he posted a message vowing U.S. intervention if Iranian security forces violently suppress pro-democracy protesters. Greene said the rhetoric contradicted what many voters supported in 2024 and framed it as a return to foreign entanglements they opposed.

In an early-morning post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “If Iran shots [sic] and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go.” Greene reposted a screenshot of that message and added her own criticism.

Greene also shared a short clip of Israeli entrepreneur Shlomo Kramer from CNBC+ in which he urged government action to curb fake accounts and foreign-run bots on social platforms. Greene tied Kramer’s remarks to broader concerns about restricting speech, writing that an Israeli cybersecurity billionaire seeking social-media regulation and a U.S. president threatening military action represented “everything we voted against in ’24.”

She went on to criticize the idea of sending American resources abroad while pressing domestic priorities. "Trump voters spent the week threatening a tax revolt because they are so furious about the never ending waste, fraud, and abuse of their hard earned money going to foreigners and foreign wars," Greene wrote.

The focus should be on tax dollars here at home and defending our God given freedoms and rights.

Another high-profile Republican critic, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), also took aim at Trump’s statement. Massie argued the United States should prioritize domestic problems and noted legal constraints on military action. He summarized his objections in three points:

  1. We Have Problems At Home And Shouldn’t Be Wasting Military Resources On Another Country’s Internal Affairs.
  2. Military Strikes On Iran Require Congressional Authorization.
  3. This Threat Isn’t About Freedom Of Speech In Iran; It’s About The Dollar, Oil, And Israel.

Greene and Massie are among the most vocal GOP lawmakers opposing U.S. intervention abroad and some forms of U.S. support for Israel. Greene has publicly broken with Trump before, including disputes last year over the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files and matters related to affordability and domestic priorities.
