Man Charged After Police Vehicle Rammed in East Belfast; PSNI Investigates Two Incidents

The PSNI has charged a 41-year-old in connection with an incident on Bloomfield Avenue on 14 November where officers say a police vehicle was rammed. He faces multiple driving-related offences, including driving while over the legal alcohol limit, dangerous driving, failing to stop, resisting and assaulting police, and is due before Belfast Magistrates' Court on 12 December.

The force is investigating two separate reports of police vehicles being rammed; a different 43-year-old arrested on 13 November has been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Man charged after police vehicle rammed in east Belfast

A 41-year-old man has been charged following an incident in which police say a vehicle was rammed on Bloomfield Avenue in east Belfast on Friday 14 November.

The charges include:

  • Driving while over the legal alcohol limit (on the breath)
  • Dangerous driving
  • Failing to stop for police
  • Resisting police
  • Assault on police

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Friday 12 December.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed it is investigating two separate reports that police vehicles were rammed. The incidents are being treated separately as enquiries continue.

Separately, a 43-year-old man arrested in west Belfast on Thursday 13 November on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while over the legal limit and aggravated taking and driving away has been released on bail pending further police enquiries.
