Candlelight Vigil at Titan Stadium Honors Lauren Turner
Hundreds of students, teammates, friends and community members gathered Wednesday evening at Titan Stadium to remember Lauren Turner, a 19-year-old sophomore on the Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team. Turner died last Friday after spending nearly six weeks in the intensive care unit following an off-campus e-scooter collision in late September.
Turner and a teammate were struck by a box truck while riding the e-scooter; the teammate remains hospitalized and is still recovering. Turner was remembered as a talented athlete who helped the Titans begin the 2025 season unbeaten and as a warm, funny presence off the field.
"A beautiful young lady, a twin, 19 years of age," said family friend Nick Kokkinos. "She participated in our community, playing basketball and attending Sunday school — and then tragedy struck."
University officials and local authorities continue to investigate the collision and have not released further details. The campus community and the soccer program are mourning Turner’s loss while awaiting the outcome of the probe.
