MANHATTAN (KSNT)
The Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission, in partnership with Kansas State University, is rolling out its second annual winter educational series—Sorghum Connection—designed to help sorghum producers across Kansas improve profitability through research-driven practices and practical on-farm strategies.
What to expect
Held over three days, the program will present actionable data and research for both grain and forage sorghum. Sessions will cover:
- Managing forage sorghum for silage under water-limited conditions
- Improving digestibility and nutrition for cattle
- Integrated weed management and disease control strategies
- Advances in precision agriculture and farm management tools
- Crop improvement breakthroughs and future sorghum cropping systems
“The data and strategies we share through Sorghum Connection, whether it’s maximizing yield through fungicide application or fine-tuning cropping systems, are immediately actionable on the farm,” said Dr. Rodrigo Onofre, K‑State row crops extension specialist. “Sorghum growers need a space to connect, learn the latest disease management techniques, and stay at the forefront of the industry’s profitability trends. We strongly encourage every producer to take advantage of this unique opportunity to grow their success for the future.”
