Israeli leaders vowed swift reprisals and intensified security operations on Sunday after a deadly shooting near Neveh Tzuf and an attempted car-ramming near Jenin. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that those responsible will be pursued and punished and ordered immediate reinforcement of security forces in the West Bank.
Manhunt and Military Orders
"Our security forces are currently pursuing the despicable terrorist who carried out the murderous attack in Binyamin," Netanyahu said, adding that neither attackers nor those who assisted them will be spared. He said Israel would "settle the score" with perpetrators in Gaza, Lebanon and in Judea and Samaria.
Netanyahu said he had instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) to bolster West Bank deployments, impose roadblocks, and conduct offensive operations and arrests to protect Israeli citizens. He also ordered the immediate demolition of the assailant’s home.

President Isaac Herzog offered condolences and posted on X/Twitter: "Even on this holy eve, we declare clearly and firmly: Terror will not break us nor shake our spirit. Against it, we will stand together united, resolute, and full of faith."
Defense Minister Israel Katz praised troops who intercepted a separate attacker at the Ganim checkpoint, saying their actions prevented a second assault. In earlier statements, some ministers and political figures described the incidents as "Palestinian terror" and urged decisive measures.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said that if the shooter is not killed during the manhunt, "he belongs on the gallows," citing the Death Penalty for Terrorists Law. He offered condolences to the victim’s family and asserted the primacy of settlers' right to life over the freedom of movement of Palestinian Authority residents on roads during the holiday period.
Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman urged that the IDF enter the village from which the attacker emerged and raze it. Gadi Eisenkot, chair of Yashar, and Yosef Haddad of the People of Israel party publicly expressed support for security forces and warned civilians to remain vigilant during the High Holy Days.
