The U.S. has reimposed limits on Iran's UN delegation in New York, restricting access to wholesale markets and luxury goods, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said.
Pigott said the measures prevent regime officials from exploiting the UN visit for luxury purchases while ordinary Iranians face shortages, repression and inflation.
The move echoes similar curbs in 2025 and follows past incidents—most notably a delegation that returned with a truckload of consumer goods—against the backdrop of sanctions and recent U.S.–Iran tensions.
