Massachusetts authorities are searching for an armed suspect accused of robbing a $20 million mansion and binding a housekeeper in what investigators called an elaborate home invasion.

The incident occurred at about 8:50 a.m. on Saturday after a neighbor phoned 911 to report a break-in at the 27,000-square-foot estate in Beverly, according to WCVB. Investigators say the lone housekeeper was attacked, restrained and left in the garage before the suspect fled the scene with multiple items.

Homeowner Thomas Swan III described the assault as brutal and said the housekeeper—who he called "very special"—was left deeply traumatized.

"What they did to my housekeeper was just horrendous," Swan told WCVB. "She was held at gunpoint, sometimes dragged by her hair, ultimately tied up and left in the garage. She’s really, really special, but truly traumatized."
After the suspect left, the housekeeper escaped and ran to a neighbor’s home for help. She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released, the Beverly Police Department said.
Police say the suspect fled in a Porsche stolen from the residence; officers later recovered the vehicle several miles away in Lynn. Swan told reporters the intruder appeared familiar with the property and targeted specific, high-value items.
"They knew what they were after," Swan said. "They were looking for some very specific and valuable things." Authorities have not released a description of the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing. The Beverly Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment.
