Zelenskiy Says 'Dignified, Lasting Peace' Realistic Ahead Of Abu Dhabi Talks

KYIV — President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Feb. 2 that achieving a dignified and lasting peace for Ukraine is realistic as Kyiv prepares for a new round of talks in Abu Dhabi this week involving Russian and U.S. officials.
Following consultations with his negotiating team, Zelenskiy said the Ukrainian delegation will hold bilateral meetings with U.S. officials during the two-day talks, which are due to begin on Wednesday.
“We consider the bilateral security guarantees document with the United States to be complete, and we anticipate further substantive work on documents related to recovery and economic development,” Zelenskiy said.
He expressed cautious optimism that negotiations can lead to durable security arrangements and concrete plans for reconstruction. Ukrainian officials say the agenda will focus on security guarantees, post-conflict recovery and economic cooperation, with further technical work expected after the initial meetings.
