The Sugar Springs Drive home in Las Vegas was raided Saturday after officers discovered what they described as a possible biological laboratory, including refrigerators with vials of unknown liquids. The property is owned by an LLC whose name appears in a federal Reedley, California investigation that uncovered thousands of unlabeled vials, containers labeled with pathogens (including HIV, malaria and dengue fever), and about 1,000 mice. One person was detained in Las Vegas; samples seized there will be sent to the FBI lab for testing. Authorities say the incident appears isolated and there is no threat to the public.
Las Vegas Home Raided for Possible ‘Biolab’ Linked to Illegal California Lab; FBI Testing Samples

Law enforcement executed a pre-dawn search warrant Saturday at a residence on Sugar Springs Drive in Las Vegas after officers discovered what they described as a possible biological laboratory, the 8 News Now Investigators at Nexstar’s KLAS report.
Shortly before 6 a.m., a Metro SWAT team, along with local police and FBI agents, entered the property. Authorities said they found a potential lab setup, including refrigerators containing vials of unknown liquids. A second location tied to the investigation was also searched, but officers said no laboratory was found there.
Connection To Reedley, California Investigation
County property records show the Sugar Springs Drive home is owned by an LLC that uses the same company name appearing in an ongoing federal case in Reedley, California. That California matter involved a suspected illegal biolab that federal prosecutors say contained infectious agents and improperly handled biological material. A Chinese national faces federal charges in the Reedley case for allegedly manufacturing and distributing misbranded medical devices, according to prosecutors.
Findings at the Reedley Site
According to a federal report prepared for the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and local reporting by Nexstar’s KSEE/KGPE, investigators at the Reedley site observed blood, tissue and other bodily fluids and serums; thousands of vials of unlabeled fluids and suspected biological material; and containers labeled with pathogen names in English or Mandarin. Some vials reportedly bore labels such as "dengue fever," "HIV," and "malaria." Investigators also found approximately 1,000 mice at the Reedley location. The EPA was later called in to remediate chemical hazards at that site in 2024.
Custody, Ownership And Ongoing Work
The man linked to the Reedley operation remains in federal custody pending a spring trial. He is listed as the registered agent for the Nevada company that owns the Sugar Springs Drive property; records show the LLC purchased the home in 2022. Court filings previously indicate the individual told a judge he no longer runs the companies, though Nevada business filings still listed him as of Sunday.
At a joint news conference with the FBI, Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said one person was taken into custody in connection with the Las Vegas search. As of Sunday, no state or federal case appeared to have been filed specifically related to Saturday’s raid. Officials did not disclose what substances, if any, were seized; investigators told 8 News Now that samples recovered from the Las Vegas location will be sent to the FBI laboratory for testing.
Public Safety And Next Steps
Sheriff McMahill emphasized the incident appears isolated and said there is no known threat to the public. Neighbors told 8 News Now the house had been under surveillance prior to the raid. Local and federal authorities continue to investigate; officials have not released additional details about evidence seized or potential criminal charges tied to the Las Vegas location.
