Barron Trump, 19, called London police after witnessing an alleged assault on a female friend during a video call, a court heard. A transcript of the emergency call was shown at the trial of 22-year-old Matvei Rumiantsev, who faces multiple charges including rape and intentional strangulation and who denies the allegations. The woman told jurors she believes the call helped save her life; the defence says her account is fabricated. Police sought a witness statement from Trump; the trial is ongoing.

Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of the US president, contacted London police last year after witnessing an alleged assault on a female friend while they were on a video call, a British court was told.

A transcript of the emergency call was played during the trial of 22-year-old Matvei Rumiantsev at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London, the PA Media news agency reported. Rumiantsev faces a string of charges including assault, actual bodily harm, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation and perverting the course of justice; he denies all allegations.

In court, the woman — who cannot be named for legal reasons — told jurors she believes Trump’s intervention helped prevent her being killed. She described the call as "like a sign from God at that moment," according to British media reports.

He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment.

Rumiantsev’s defence characterized the woman’s account as a "complete fabrication," arguing the defendant had merely restrained her because she was allegedly "angry and violent," Metro reported.

Details Of The Call And Follow-Up

The court heard that Trump phoned police on January 18, 2025, after the woman answered his video call while she was allegedly being assaulted. According to the transcript, Trump told operators:

"I’m calling from the US, I just got a call from a girl… she’s getting beat up. This was happening about eight minutes ago. I just figured out how to, how to call someone. It’s really an emergency."

Police later asked Trump if he would provide a witness statement. Jurors were shown an email Trump sent to officers on May 2, 2025, in which he described what he had briefly seen: that the person who first answered appeared to be a shirtless man with dark hair for "maybe one second," then the view flipped to the woman. Trump also wrote that the woman had told him the man had been "giving her difficulty for a long time."

Prosecutors told the court police replied to Trump’s email, and that a follow-up message sent on July 1 reportedly did not receive a response.

The trial is continuing at Snaresbrook Crown Court. CNN has contacted the White House for comment.
