Meta has named Dina Powell McCormick president and vice chairman. A former deputy national security adviser to President Trump, Powell McCormick led Middle East policy efforts including a $200 billion U.S.-Saudi arms package. She spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs, becoming a partner and leading major philanthropic programs, and is married to Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick. Her appointment follows other recent Meta hires of former Republican officials.

Meta on Monday appointed Dina Powell McCormick as its president and vice chairman, a high-profile hire that follows her earlier service on Meta’s board. Powell McCormick joined the board in April and resigned in December before stepping into the new executive role.

Earlier in her career, she worked in the George W. Bush administration, rising from a personnel role to senior White House assistant and assistant secretary of state under Condoleezza Rice. When she resigned in 2007, she was the highest-ranking Arab American in the Bush administration.

Her private-sector résumé includes 16 years at Goldman Sachs. Powell McCormick joined Goldman as a managing director, became a partner within three years, and led major philanthropic initiatives including the 10,000 Women and 10,000 Small Businesses programs as president of the Goldman Sachs Foundation. She left Goldman Sachs in 2023.

Personal and political connections: Born in Cairo, Powell McCormick’s family moved to Dallas in 1977. She married Pennsylvania politician Dave McCormick in 2019; she campaigned with him during his bids for the U.S. Senate. Dave McCormick lost the 2022 Republican primary to Mehmet Oz but won a Senate seat in 2024, defeating incumbent Bob Casey.

Context and reaction: President Trump posted congratulations on Truth Social, calling her appointment “a great choice by Mark Z.” Meta’s hiring follows other recent appointments of former Trump administration officials, including C.J.
