The World Robot Olympiad has opened in Singapore with 594 teams (1,571 competitors) from 91 countries competing under the theme "The Future of Robots." Contestants aged 8–22 will tackle challenges ranging from a randomly changing field task to RoboSports double tennis and project-based problem solving. A new autonomous-driving category for 14–22-year-olds asks teams to build steering-drive robots that navigate tracks independently. Singapore emphasized the event's link to practical robotics applications in transport, building maintenance and healthcare.
