Crockett: Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘Couldn’t Take the Heat’ After Falling Out With Trump

Rep. Jasmine Crockett criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for resigning after a brief break with former President Donald Trump, saying Greene “couldn’t take the heat” after just one week opposing him. Crockett noted other Republicans who angered Trump — like Thomas Massie and Lauren Boebert — weathered similar backlash. Greene, once a Trump ally, became a critic over Epstein files, health care and the shutdown and said she received threats after being called “a traitor.” Her departure is set for early 2026; Greene’s next steps are unclear.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett sharply criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after Greene announced she will resign from Congress early in 2026 following a public falling-out with former President Donald Trump.

In an interview on State of the Union, Crockett — a Texas Democrat and long-standing Trump opponent — said Greene lasted only “one week” on “the opposite side of the president” before deciding to step down.

“You're on the other side of the president for one week, and you can't take the heat? Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes, to not only be on the opposite side of him, but to have people like her who are constantly fanning the flames of hate... imagine what those threats look like when you literally are someone like me.”

Greene, who was once a staunch Trump ally, has in recent months turned into a vocal critic of the former president and other members of her party amid disputes over the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related files, health care policy and the government shutdown. She has said she began receiving threats after Trump labeled her “a traitor.”

Crockett pointed out that other Republicans who drew Trump's ire — including Reps. Thomas Massie and Lauren Boebert — also faced public rebukes but remained in office. “But somehow they were able to weather the storm. Why is everyone else able to stand and you can’t?” she asked.

Background and fallout

Crockett and Greene have a long history of tension, which once erupted into a confrontation during a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing. Despite their clashes, Crockett briefly showed a note of sympathy when Trump withdrew his support for Greene, tweeting: “I’m here for you girl … I told you not to trust him … all he cares about is HIMself (and protecting pedos) he never loved you.”

Greene’s immediate plans after her resignation remain unclear. Separately, Crockett is expected to decide this week whether she will launch a challenge to Republican Sen. John Cornyn.
