‘You Can’t Take the Heat!’ Jasmine Crockett Slams Marjorie Taylor Greene After Surprise Resignation

Rep. Jasmine Crockett criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene following Greene’s surprise announcement that she will resign on Jan. 5, 2026. Crockett argued Greene helped create the hostile environment she now blames for her departure, and noted other Republicans have endured similar pressure without resigning. The confrontation came during an interview on State of the Union with Jake Tapper, where Greene’s dispute with Donald Trump over the release of Epstein files was discussed as a possible cause for her exit.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Tex.) strongly criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) after Greene announced she will resign from the House effective Jan. 5, 2026. In an interview on State of the Union with Jake Tapper, Crockett said Greene helped create the hostile environment she now says pushed her out.

Crockett and Greene have exchanged sharp personal barbs before: Crockett recalled calling Greene a “bleach blonde, bad built, butch body” after Greene mocked Crockett’s eyelashes as “fake.” That history framed Crockett’s reaction to Greene’s resignation announcement.

“Honestly, I was like, you’ve got to be kidding me,” Crockett said. “You’re on the other side of the president for one week and you can’t take the heat. Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes, to not only be on the opposite side of him, but to have people like her who are constantly fanning the flames of hate. And imagine what those threats look like when you literally are someone like me.”

Tapper noted that Greene suggested her split with former President Donald Trump — and her decision to step down on Jan. 5, 2026 — stemmed from a disagreement over the release of the so-called Epstein files. Crockett expressed little sympathy for that explanation.

“He’s upset with Thomas Massie, and so he’s gone after him,” Crockett said, referencing other Republicans who faced the president’s criticism but remained in office. “He’s upset with [Lauren] Boebert. He’s upset with any Republican that actually signed the discharge petition. But, somehow, they were able to weather the storm. So this really speaks to the fact that Marjorie, who has been an instigator of a lot of this hate that we see as it relates to the MAGA movement, it’s just interesting that I don’t know if she really fully understood how bad she was making it for other people. And now that they’re doing it to her, I just got to say, well, why is it that everyone else is able to stand, and you can’t?”

Crockett’s remarks highlighted a broader point lawmakers and commentators have raised: that inflammatory rhetoric can put already vulnerable members at increased risk. Crockett suggested Greene may not have fully appreciated the consequences of her own conduct until she faced comparable pressure.

The exchange underscores deep divisions within Congress and the personal toll of partisan conflict as Greene prepares to leave her seat in early January.
